Netflix viewers sitting down to watch a new thriller have been left pretty stunned by the amount of sexual content taking place in cars.
His & Hers, Netflix’s brand-new limited series, is already being tipped as January’s must-watch.
Adapted from the bestselling novel by Alice Feeney, the story trades the English countryside setting of the original for the steamy tension of small-town Georgia. The six-episode series drops viewers into the eerie town of Dahlonega, where a chilling murder cracks open a much deeper web of lies.
Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal turn up the heat in Dahlonega
Tessa Thompson leads the cast as Anna Andrews, a once-rising star in news broadcasting who’s now withdrawn from the spotlight after a personal tragedy.
When word reaches her of a violent murder back in her hometown, she seizes the chance to chase the story – and maybe find redemption along the way.
She’s not the only one on the case. Detective Jack Harper, played by The Bear’s Jon Bernthal, has also returned to Dahlonega after being forced out of his big-city job.
Now staying with his sister and haunted by his own missteps, Jack is trying to rebuild his life – and solve a murder that’s getting bloodier by the day.
But here's the twist: Jack and Anna aren’t just two people on the same case.
They’re estranged spouses. Their tangled history makes every new clue feel even more loaded, and as the investigation deepens, the tension between them threatens to explode. Lies, betrayal, and old wounds all come bubbling to the surface.
Fans notice odd sexual content
While people are sinking their teeth into the new series, some viewers have noticed a bizarre running theme.
It would appear that there is a lot of sex in cars.
One X user wrote: "The cars in His & Hers really getting workouts. There's so much sex hapenning [sic] in these cars."
A second said: "His & Hers was a very good watch!! I love a good thriller especially with excellent acting. I love Tessa and Jon in roles like these! Please watch before you get spoiled!!!
"The only thing that p**sed me off was all the car sex. Why yall hardly ever f**king in a bed??"
While a third user said: "His and Hers on Netflix is so overly sexual for no reason to me because all this heavy breathing and rocking for what just tell the story."
Expect murder, mayhem, and seriously steamy secrets
Directed by William Oldroyd – the British filmmaker behind the Florence Pugh-starring Lady Macbeth – His and Hers walks a tightrope between high-gloss drama and raw brutality.
The opening scene alone sets the tone: a woman’s body sprawled across a car hood, bleeding out. But it’s not all blood and gore. There’s plenty of sex, betrayal, and late-night rendezvous to fuel the suspense.
And the star power behind the scenes is just as big as what’s on screen. Thompson not only leads the cast, but also co-produces alongside Jessica Chastain.
Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, Thompson said: “I am beyond elated to be collaborating with a filmmaker I have long admired and an incredible team to make a fresh offering in a genre that I can never get enough of.
“From the second I heard what Will was imagining doing with Alice Feeney’s brilliant book to the moment I visited the town where our story is set, I was hooked.”
