And I [thought], 'Oh, if it's weird for me, then it's going to probably really weird for him,' but actually, it was fine. Gwyneth’s Past Reservations About Sex ScenesThe actress also reflected on her past reservations about intimate scenes, recalling a moment earlier in her career when she refused to film a sex scene with Ethan Hawke in their 1998 adaptation of Great Expectations. Paltrow explained that she felt uncomfortable with the idea of an intimate scene being too explicit, especially since it was proposed that the camera would track down her body in a provocative manner. "I was really self-conscious about my dad and grandfather seeing this kind of stuff. Like, it really bothered me.
