Cardi B jokes that she was supposed to perform 'WAP' at Joe Biden's inauguration
Joe Biden's inauguration was full of memorable performances, but one person who joked that she was also meant to be involved was rapper Cardi B.
Now, the 28-year-old has taken to Twitter to joke that she was meant to perform at Wednesday's inauguration, but she couldn't make it because of a dental appointment.
She wrote: "Ugh I was supposed to perform wap at the inauguration today but I had a dentist appointment....maybe next time [sic]."
Needless to say, Cardi B's tweet went down a storm on the social media website, and at the time of writing it has received upwards of 465K likes and 34K retweets.
One commenter who seemed not to be a fan of the rapper, wrote: "I want to personally thank your dentist for keeping that appointment."
Meanwhile, a second joked alongside a laughing emoji: "Kamala and Michelle got that presidential wap."
Then there was a third Twitter user who decided to photoshop a Birkin bag onto the now-iconic picture of Bernie Sanders at the inauguration wearing his mitten gloves:
Thankfully, Lady Gaga was able to perform at the ceremony as well as other big-name stars including John Legend, Katy Perry, and Demi Lovato.
True to form, Lady Gaga came dressed to the nines in an outfit reminiscent of the Hunger Games to sing the national anthem.
In the event that Cardi B had performed her song, it would have no doubt pleased the rapper, who has previously expressed her delight that her song 'WAP' upset so many Republicans, per Buzzfeed.
When she was awarded the Billboard Woman of the Year award in December 2020, she said: "So I'm just grateful and thankful that the song that I actually did put out this year, which was 'WAP,' featuring Megan Thee Stallion, not only was it an amazing song that broke so many records, but it was a conversation that I never thought was going to be so big."
Well, there's always 2024...
