Brooklyn Beckham has sparked new controversy with a revealing photo of a tattoo on his neck, just days after making bombshell accusations against his parents, David and Victoria Beckham. The tension within the Beckham family reached new heights after the 26-year-old posted a lengthy statement on January 19. The aspiring chef, who married actress Nicola Peltz in April 2022, accused his famous parents of consistently disrespecting his wife, and made it clear that he did not seek reconciliation with them. He alleged that the Spice Girl “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola at their wedding by dancing “very inappropriately” in front of guests, which caused him to feel “uncomfortable” and “humiliated.” He also said that his mother backed out of designing his wife's wedding gown at the last minute, which forced the bride to find an alternative. He added that family members told him the night before the wedding that Nicola was “not blood” and “not family”.In addition to this, he claimed that his father, David, had only agreed to meet with him on the condition that Nicola would not be present, calling it a “slap in the face.”"The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared," he wrote."I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family," Brooklyn added.Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz. She recently posted celebratory messages for her fellow Spice Girl, Emma Bunton, on social media, but has not directly addressed the family controversy.David, however, took to CNBC’s Squawk Box to discuss the challenges of parenting in the public eye and the importance of allowing children to make their own mistakes. “I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media . . . For the good and for the bad,” he said. “What kids can access these days, it can be dangerous. But what I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons.“I’ve been able to use my platform for my following, for UNICEF. And it has been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s going on around the world for children. And I have tried to do the same with my children, to educate them.“They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids.” The football legend added: “You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”Meanwhile, Brooklyn’s younger brother, Cruz Beckham, has taken a more light-hearted approach to the situation. The 20-year-old responded to his older sibling's accusations, particularly the claim that their mom had humiliated Brooklyn by dancing inappropriately during his first dance, by liking a meme on Instagram. The meme humorously suggested that Victoria might have requested an unexpected song for her dance with Brooklyn.Featured image credit: Francois Durand / Getty
